Today’s card of the day is brought to you by the Gallery’s “Wild Card” feature. (Try it!) I didn’t get a card, but a stamp: a 1964 Wheaties Stamp of Charlie Bradshaw.
Bradshaw played tackle for eleven seasons in the NFL: 1958 to 1960 for the Los Angeles Rams, 1961 to 1966 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and 1967 to 1968 for the Detroit Lions. He never played in a playoff game, but he did make the Pro Bowl in 1963 and 1964.
Bradshaw played college football at Baylor University, and he attended Center High School in Center, Texas. He and Del Shofner were teammates in high school, college, and the pros. (See the Gallery’s High School Teammates page.)
Bradshaw’s 1964 Wheaties Stamp is one of 74 in the set: 70 players and four team emblems. (Why only four team emblems? Beats me.) His stamp pictures him in his Rams jersey, though he hadn’t played for the Rams in four years. He also appeared on a few Bell Brand and Philadelphia football cards.
