Happy 85th birthday to Stew Barber! Barber played from 1961 to 1969, mostly at tackle, for the AFL’s Buffalo Bills. From 1962 to 1968, he started 102 straight games, including playoffs. He was an AFL All-Star five straight years, and he played on the Bills teams that won back-to-back AFL Championships in 1964 and 1965.
Today’s card of the day is Barber’s rookie card, a 1964 Topps. The card shows his position as linebacker, though he hadn’t played linebacker since 1961. For an offensive lineman, he appeared on an impressive number of other cards. You can see all of Barber’s cards in the Gallery.
