Happy 85th birthday to Bob Lilly! Bob Lilly played defensive end and defensive tackle from 1961 to 1974 for the Dallas Cowboys–and started every game in those fourteen seasons. He made the Pro Bowl eleven times, and he was named a First-Team All-Pro seven times. Lilly played in Super Bowls V and VI–a loss to the Baltimore Colts and a win over the Miami Dolphins–and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980.
Today’s card of the day is Lilly’s 1962 Post Cereal card. This is a pre-rookie card, issued a year before his generally recognized rookie card, a 1963 Topps. (For more pre-rookie cards, see the Gallery’s Pre-Rookie Card page.) Not surprisingly, Lilly appeared on lots of other cards, as well. You can see them all in the Gallery.
