Today’s card of the day is a 1961 Nu-Card card of Mike Cotten. Cotten passed away on May 25; he was 84 years old.
Cotten played quarterback for the Texas Longhorns from 1959 to 1961. According to his page on Wikipedia, he had a 17-4-1 record as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback. He was named the co-MVP of the 1962 Cotton Bowl, in which Texas beat the University of Mississippi. The Longhorns finished that season ranked #3 in the nation in the AP poll.
Cotten did not play professional football. He obtained his law degree, served in the Marine Corps, and made a career practicing law.
