Happy 90th birthday to Jim Ridlon! Ridlon played defensive back for the San Francisco 49ers from 1957 to 1962, and for the Dallas Cowboys from 1963 to 1964. He had eleven career interceptions. According to Wikipedia, in 1964 he became the first Dallas Cowboy to score two defensive touchdowns in the same season.
After retiring from pro football, Ridlon taught art at his alma mater, Syracuse University, from 1965 and 2000. You can see some of his work on the New York Heritage Digital Collections web site.
Today’s card of the day is Ridlon’s rookie card, a 1957 Topps. He also appeared on a few other cards, which you can see in the Gallery.
