Today’s card of the day is a 1953 Bowman card of Al Conway. Conway, who played college football at Army and at William Jewell College in Missouri, was the second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1953. Unfortunately, according to Wikipedia, injuries kept him from ever playing in the NFL.
Conway did, however, serve as an official for 28 seasons in the AFL and NFL, starting in 1969. He worked 31 playoff games, including four Super Bowls.
Conway’s 1953 Bowman card is one of 96 in the set.
