Today’s card of the day is a 1950 Bowman card of Martin Ruby. Ruby played professional football for twelve years, but 1950 was his only season in the NFL. Ruby, who played both offensive tackle and defensive tackle, played from 1946 to 1948 for the AAFC’s Brooklyn Dodgers, in 1949 for the AAFC’s New York Yankees, in 1950 for the NFL’s New York Yanks, and from 1951 to 1957 for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Ruby played in one Grey Cup with Saskatchewan, in 1951. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1974.
Prior to his professional career, Ruby played college football for Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Aggies team that went 11-0 and won the National Championship in 1939.
