Today’s card of the day is a 1950 Bowman card of Clyde Scott. Scott played running back and defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949 to 1951, and for the Eagles and Detroit Lions in 1952. His best season, statistically, was 1951, when he gained 373 yards from scrimmage. Scott played on two NFL Championship teams, the 1949 Eagles and 1952 Lions.
Scott played college football at the University of Arkansas. The Razorbacks retired his jersey number, 12, in 1949. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1971.
Scott also starred in track at Arkansas, and he won a silver medal in the 110 meter hurdles in the 1948 London Olympics. (See the Gallery’s page of Olympic athletes on vintage football cards.)
Scott appeared on one other football card, a 1951 Bowman.
