1976 Popsicle Football Cards

There are 29 cards in the 1976 Popsicle football card set: one for each NFL team of 1976, plus a variation for the New York Giants. The Giants changed their helmet logo in 1976, but apparently they forgot to tell the Popsicle people. One of the Giants cards shows the team's 1975 helmet, and the corrected one shows its 1976 helmet.

According to the Fleer Sticker Project, the cards were distributed with Popsicles, one per box. Surprisingly, I couldn't find a picture of a box online, but perhaps a reader can point one out. The cards are the size of credit cards, only with thinner plastic. Each card has an action photo on the right side, but, unfortunately, the players in the photos aren't named on the back. Comparing the team matchups to the NFL schedule, it appears that the action photos date back as far as 1973. The Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were expansion teams in 1976, and the action photos on their cards appear to be from 1976 preseason games.
