1955 Topps All-American Frank Sinkwich 1955 Topps All-American 69 Frank Sinkwich halfback Georgia Heisman Trophy 1942, College Hall of Fame 1954 Rookie card

Sinkwich played two seasons for the Detroit Lions and two seasons for the AAFC's New York Yankees and Baltimore Colts. He averaged 45.92 yards per punt for the Lions in 1943, still an NFL record for a rookie.

Bertelli was second in Heisman voting in 1941, sixth in 1942, and first in 1943. After serving in World War II, he played three seasons for the AAFC's Los Angeles Dons and Chicago Rockets.

Berwanger was the first Heisman Trophy winner and the first player ever chosen in the NFL draft. He decided not to play pro football, however.

1956 Parkhurst Cal Jones 1956 Parkhurst 33 Cal Jones Winnipeg Blue Bombers guard Iowa Outland Trophy 1955, College Hall of Fame 1980 Jones was the first African-American to win the Outland Trophy. He also placed tenth in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1955. (See my page of football cards of Heisman candidates.) Jones died in a plane crash with four members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders: Mel Becket, Mario DeMarco, Ray Syrnyk, and Gordon Sturtridge.
