He also placed tenth in voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1955. (See my page of football cards of Heisman candidates.) Jones died in a plane crash with four members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders: Mel Becket, Mario DeMarco, Ray Syrnyk, and Gordon Sturtridge.
